An online app for citizens to report on the model code of conduct violations during the election period. The application is called as ‘cVIGIL’ denoting Vigilant Citizen and the proactive and responsible role he can play in the conduct of free and fair elections.


EVM Management System is designed to manage inventory of EVM units. Tracking of units from manufacturer to state, state to state, district to district. It also shows status of units as per election process.


ERO-Net is envisioned keeping in the mind the mandate of ECI, that no eligible voter be left behind irrespective of his language or physical ability. The system strives to make an applicant’s entry in e-roll unambiguous and error free without much of hassle.


National Voters Service Portal aims to provide single window quality services through user friendly interface for citizen to increase transparency and ease of access of information.



Provides single window common interface to the citizens for submitting their complaints,System forwards the complaints to appropriate authority & keeps the user informed about its progress.


Electronically transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) is developed by Election Commission of India, for the use of the Service Voters.This system enables the entitled service voters to cast their vote using an electronically received postal ballot from anywhere outside their constituency.

Gujarat Palika-Panchayat Election Result LIVE; seat wise update

Voting took place on February 28 for 980 seats in 31 district panchayats, 4772 seats in 231 taluka panchayats and 2720 seats in 81 municipalities. The turnout was 66.67 per cent in district panchayats, 69.18 per cent in taluka panchayats and 59.05 per cent in municipalities. Voting was better in villages than in urban areas.

Out of 8747 district panchayat seats of local self-government in the state, 237 seats were uncontested. In the district panchayat, BJP got 25 uncontested seats, BJP got 92 out of 95 seats in the municipality, Congress got 2, others got 1 seat, BJP got 111 out of total 117 uncontested taluka panchayats, Congress got 5 and others got 1 seat.

What was the status in 2015

If we talk about the result of the local body elections held in 2015, out of 972 seats in district panchayats, Congress got 595 and BJP got 368 seats. While others got 9 seats. Out of 4715 seats in 231 taluka panchayats in 2015, Congress got 2555, BJP got 2019 and 141 others. Out of 2675 seats in 81 municipalities, BJP got 1197, Congress 673 and others 205 seats while BSP got 4 seats. Thus, in the 2015 elections in the district panchayats and taluka panchayats, the Congress was dominating the BJP in the municipalities.

 The State Election Commission has been entrusted with the task of conducting free, fair and impartial elections to the local bodies of the state.

The State Election Commission carries out activities related to the preparation of ward / election department as per the rules of local bodies, decision of boundaries and distribution of seats, preparation of voter list for local bodies like Gram Panchayat, Taluka and District Panchayat / Nagarpalika and Municipal. Conduct and monitor state corporations and general / mid-term / by-elections. For all these functions, the authority has been delegated to the State Election Commission under Article 243 K, under which it has been given the superintendent, direction and control of local body elections.

According to the election rules of such local bodies, a district election officer has been appointed for panchayat elections, a district municipal election officer for municipal elections and a city election officer for municipal elections. The State Election Commission has empowered the Collectors for all activities relating to Gram Panchayat elections where limits and seats have been allotted by the State Reserve Commission for various reserved categories, voter list, election programs and other related activities.

The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners are appointed by the President of India. The term of office of the Chief Election Commissioner is 6 years or 6 years, whichever comes first. While the term of other Election Commissioners is 5 years or 6 years, whichever comes first. For enhanced participation of electors in the electoral process and reducing the electoral malpractices, it is essential to improve the quality of electoral registration process and of the electoral rolls.

Booth Level Officer (BLO) is a local Government/Semi-Government official, familiar with the local electors and generally a voter in the same polling area who assists in updating the roll using his local knowledge. In fact, BLO is a representative of Election Commission of India (ECI) at the grass-root level who plays a pivotal role in the process of roll revision and collecting actual field information with regard to the roll corresponding to the polling area assigned to him.


Under Section 13B (2) of Representation of People Act, 1950, BLOs are appointed from amongst the officers of the Govt. /Semi Govt. /Local Bodies. Generally, one BLO is responsible for one part of the electoral roll. From August, 2006 the Commission has decided to introduce the concept of appointing BLOs who would be accountable for ensuring the fidelity of electoral roll.


The ECI introduced this new system of appointing BLOs creating a clear line of accountability for preparation of an error-free electoral roll, making the BLOs its custodian at the polling booth level. Previously, voter-identification slips used to be distributed by the contesting candidates of various political parties and that gave scope for complaints. The preparation of accurate electoral rolls and direct distribution of voter identification slip by the BLOs also boosted voter confidence in the credibility of the election process.

BLO assists eligible citizens to become voters and obtain voter card. BLO provides those different forms for addition, deletion and correction of Electoral Roll entries, carries out physical verification, and gives his/her report to Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) .The BLO interacts with local people/ political parties’ representatives and identifies dead/shifted/duplicate voters to be removed from the electoral roll after due process of law.
